Plaques are a type of tablet sign. They are usually made with metal. The purpose of plaques is to provide a long lasting, damage resistant sign that appears both professional and timeless, which opens the door to several uses:

Signs can be made both large and small, and the thickness of the metal can vary between 1/8th an inch to 1/2 and inch, with thicker material adding to durability. All materials are cut to shape, and any painting of the sign to match a specific color is completed in-house.
